Obituary

Kimberly Diane Bowling Cornett, age 66, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Born on July 31, 1959, in Lynch, Kentucky, Kim was a 1977 graduate of Lynch High School. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, Delmas Cornett. The two were married shortly after her graduation. God blessed their marriage with nearly fifty years and two sons, Michael and Christopher, who brought immeasurable love and joy into their lives.

Kim was a gentle, humble, and easygoing woman whose kindness touched everyone who knew her. She had a quiet nature, a loving heart, and a beautiful way of seeing the good in others. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone and believed there was something good to be found in every person. Her warmth and compassion were simply a reflection of the wonderful person she was.

Kim found her greatest happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors, enjoying family cookouts, and being surrounded by those she loved. An excellent cook, Kim was known for the wonderful meals she prepared, especially her delicious deep-dish pizzas, which were a favorite among family and friends. Her kitchen was a place where love was shared, everyone was welcome, and memories were made.

Kim’s greatest treasure was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a dear friend to many. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unconditional love were gifts to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kim and Delmas attended Lewis Creek Pentecostal Church.

Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, who raised her, Earl and Hattie Bowling; her mother, Dorothy Bowling Gibson; and a beloved son, Christopher Delmas Cornett.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Delmas Cornett of Cumberland; two sons, Michael Dale Cornett and Hayden Christopher Lee Cornett, both of Cumberland; two granddaughters, Haley and Alayna; one brother, Bobby Bowling and wife, Tina, of Lynch; along with a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-City Funeral Home, with Brother Ron Oplinger officiating.

Following the funeral service, Kim will be laid to rest beside her beloved son, Chris, in Sandhill Cemetery in Cumberland, Kentucky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Tri City Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Kim Cornett.
