Larry Clayton
Blanton
Jun 21, 1958 — Aug 18, 2026
Lexington
Larry Clayton Blanton, 68, of Lexington, KY, passed away on August 18, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1958, in Harlan, KY, where he grew up before later making his home in Lexington.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Blanton; his mother, Geraldine "Jerri" Coffer Blanton; his brother, Ricky Blanton; his sister, Marsha Blanton; and his niece, Elizabeth Blanton Jones.
He is survived by his brother, Samuel Blanton (Texas); his sisters, Carol Blanton (Lexington) and Teri Blanton (Berea); nine nieces and nephews; fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews; and three great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He also leaves behind several special friends who stood by his side throughout his illness.
Larry spent his career managing many different businesses and worked as a private caregiver for over 20 years, a role that reflected the caring spirit he carried in everything he did. He was honored as a Kentucky Colonel, one of the highest honors given by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
But Larry's greatest legacy wasn't his career, it was the way he showed up for his family. He was more than an uncle to many of his nieces and nephews; he was a father figure who made sure they had what they needed and, more importantly, made sure they knew they were loved. He believed in hard work and in earning your own way, and he pushed the people he loved to become the best versions of themselves. Larry was known for his enormous heart and his humor. To know him was to be laughing right along with him, and anyone who spent time with him will tell you the world feels a little less bright without him in it. He was a devoted brother, a father in every way that mattered, and a friend who was always there. He was good to his core.
Larry will be deeply missed by his family and the many lives he touched, but his humor, his generosity, and his love will carry on in all of them.
