Larry Damon Short, 72, of Tazewell, TN, formerly of Holmes Mill, entered into his heavenly home on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Tri State Health & Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate, TN after a lengthy battle with dementia. Larry was born and raised in Holmes Mill, where he lived until the late 90's. He was a graduate of Evarts High School and was a retired coal miner, tirelessly working at Arch Coal for many years. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Baxter, where he loved to sing for the Lord. Larry could always be found reading his Bible, fishing and spending time with his beloved family. He was a member of the U.M.W.A.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Short and Susie Cloud Short; his daughter, Amy Short; and five siblings, Reva Witt, Glessie Davenport, Milford Short, Winford Short, and his twin, Gary Short.

Larry leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn Anderson Short, Tazewell, TN; three sons, Andy Short and wife, Amanda, Harlan; Lee Ramsey, Tazewell, TN; and James Ramsey and wife, Alicia, Middlesboro, KY; four siblings, Edna Robbins and Don Short, both of Owensboro, KY; James Short of Southgate, MI; and Ada Simpson, North Fort Myers, FL; and one sister-in-law, Brenda Short, Lily, KY. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lacey Short, Grayson Short, Adessa Ramsey, Bryannah Baker, Lee Ramsey, and Hunter Ramsey and wife, Shonteen; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends left to mourn his passing.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith with Scottie Witt officiating. Family and friends will be serve as pallbearers.
