Lawrence David Shackleford, 72, of Holmes Mill departed this life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.  Born February 15, 1953, he had lived in Harlan County most of his life.  A graduate of Evarts High School, he was a retired coal miner and attended the Bailey's Creek Holiness Church.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Estell Denise Middleton Shackleford, and his parents, Lawrence Shackleford and June Bush Shackleford.

Survivors include three children, William "Bill" Shackleford, Corbin; Matthew "Matt" Shackleford and wife, Vickie, Berea; and Lauren Shackleford and husband, Scott Casey, Milwaukee, WI; a brother, Howard Shackleford and wife, Darlene, Baxter; and two sisters, Patty Robinson, North Carolina; and Judy Fannin and husband, Neal, Lexington.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Sebastian, Joseph and William; two step-children, Katy Shepherd, Holmes Mill; James Shepherd, Louellen; and two step-grandchildren, Zander and Eli.
