Lester L. Cornett, 85, of Baxter passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Tri-Cities Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 21, 1939 in Harlan County.   Lester worked as a mine equipment salesman for many years; was a veteran of the U.S. Army and believed in the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard Cornett and Sarah Catherine Bingham Cornett; and three brothers, William R. (Bill) Cornett, Carl Cornett and Chester Cornett.

Lester is survived by his wife, Mary E. Howard Cornett, Baxter; two daughters, Rachel Rose and husband, Eric, Baxter; and Sarah Lee Cornett, Baxter; and one sister, Emma Lee Cornett Williams, Roseville, MI. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Caleb Lester Rose and Carah Grace Rose, both of Baxter. and a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with graveside services following the visitation in Resthaven Cemetery with military rites by the Harlan Honor Guard.  Pastor Mike Kelly will officiate.
