Linda Gayle Parker Evans, 73, of Evarts, departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. Born May 26, 1952 in Harlan County, she had lived here all of her life. Linda had worked as Director of Transcription/Medical Records at Harlan ARH for over 45 years. She was also a teacher at the Holmes Mill and Verda Schools, as well as Southeast Community and Technical College.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Donnie" Evans; her parents, Arthur Parker and Sue Witt Parker Gilbert; her brother, the Revered Larry Parker; mother-in-law Julie Evans and father-in-law, Roy Evans; two brothers-in-law, Richard Middleton and Danny Evans; and her stepfather, Lawrence Tom Gilbert.

Survivors include three children, Meaghan Evans, Bristol, TN; Tessa Evans, Harlan; Jared Gilbert, Lexington; a sister, Vickie Middleton, Lexington; step-siblings, Brenda Stallard and husband, Nathan, of Harrogate, TN; Judy McCreary and husband, Butch, of Harrogate; Lawrence Gilbert, Jr. and wife, Vickie,  of Columbus, OH; niece, Sarah Evans, who was like a daughter to Linda; brothers-in-law, Roy Evans and wife, Barbara; David Evans and wife, Debbie; Robert Evans and wife, Melissa; sisters-in-law, Linda Parker; Joyce Kirby; Sharon Shepherd and husband, Robert; Ellen Evans; and a host of other family and friends, including special friends, Larry May and Judy Smith.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Linda's funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10 am in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with Pastor John Luttrell officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
