Obituary

Louise Galloway, seventy years of age, passed away peacefully at her home in Rocky Face, Georgia, on Monday, September 26, 2022. She was born June 3, 1952 in Lynch, KY to Willie and Lillie Mae Galloway.  She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1970 and attended Cosmetology school. In 1988, she moved to Georgia to provide better opportunities for her daughters. Louise worked in the office at Mohawk and Shaw Flooring in Dalton, GA for many years but when she retired, she was working as a CNA (certified nursing assistant). She was a natural caregiver, who made many personal sacrifices, devoting her life to caring for her mother and helping with her brother-in-law, Gary, in the last years of their lives.

Louise loved to crochet and many family members were blessed to receive gifts of her handmade afghans, baby clothes, scarves, sweaters, dolls and animals. Every Christmas, Louise crocheted animals and dolls which were added to Christmas shoeboxes for underprivileged children all over the world.

Known affectionately as "Aunt LouLou" by generations of nieces and nephews, whom she always made time to play with, Louise was everyone's favorite aunt. And while she loved being 'Aunt LouLou' to many, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life. Louise was a great encourager and a strong woman. She was compassionate, loving, caring, dependable, and full of wisdom. She unknowingly made an everlasting impact on countless lives.

Louise is preceded in death by her father, Willie Galloway; mother, Lillie Mae Galloway Halcomb; two brothers-in-law: Ed Lane and Gary Sumner; a nephew, Evan Pettypiece; as well as many other relatives and good friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Jacqueline Galloway and Tammy Scott (Flip Wilson); six siblings: Wilma Lane, Pat Hamel (Archie), Phyllis Sumner, Rhex Galloway, Delane Galloway (Deb), Shirley Pettypiece (Bill); five grandchildren, Michael Smith, Jacob Smith (Jessica), Devin Passley (Paisley Smoot), Crystal Ayala, Josh Diaz; eight great-grandchildren: Kiersten Smith, Danielle Smith, Donnik Diaz, Adelynne Passley, Autumn Passley, Grayson Smoot, KoDa Diaz, an unborn granddaughter, Amari Louise Passley; and a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation for Louise will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place Friday, September 30 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the DL Creech Cemetery in Blair, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
