Margaret Howard
Collins
Mar 14, 1935 — Aug 30, 2022
Cumberland
Margaret Helen Collins, 87, of Cumberland, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Margaret was born to Berry and Flora (Morris) Howard in Cleveland, Tennessee on March 14th, 1935.
At her core, Margaret was a care giver opening her arms, heart and home to many family members and friends. She was known lovingly as "Granny Margaret" to the many nieces, nephews and neighbors that she helped care for over the years. However, her best loved title was most likely that of "Nana" as she greatly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren (and even their friends). She had quite the green thumb as witnessed by the many plants and flowers that could be seen in her front yard and home. She was also a fabulous cook- no one will ever make chicken and dumplings, cornbread, biscuits and gravy or Thanksgiving dressing quite as deliciously as she did. She will be dearly missed but leaves a lasting legacy of love in her remaining family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Willard E. Collins, daughter Pamela Schilling, granddaughter Kylie Baird, brothers, Willard Howard, Shelby Howard, Donald Howard, sisters Elsie Watts, Emmalou Ison, Evelyn Lawson, Marlene Boggs and special cousins Dorothy Naillieux and Louanna Carter.
She is survived by her daughter Felicia (JB) Donahue, Williamsburg, KY, granddaughters, Megan (Anthony) Carruba, Lynch, KY, Sara Donahue, Corbin, KY and Shelby Schilling (Mark Bodkin) Jacksonville, FL, grandson Jake (Kassi) Baird Wyandotte, MI, great grandchildren Nathan Baird, Judah Baird, Valor Baird and Quinn Carruba, brother Harold Howard, sister-in-law, Joyce Howard, son-in-law Butch (Bridget) Schilling, special cousin, Emogene Halcomb, dear friends Libby & Larry Cornett, as well as her beloved dog, Cocoa. Also surviving is a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2nd, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Tri-Cities Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at 11:00 am with a graveside service to follow at the Morris Cemetery, Hiram. Rev. Jake Baird and Rev. Donnie Bruce Patrick will preside over the services. Pall bearers will be Brandon Howard, Gavin Howard, Steve Naillieux, Greg Boggs, Anthony Carruba and Mark Bodkin. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons, nephews and friends.
