Mark Evan
Rigney
Jan 8, 1967 — Aug 29, 2025
Cumberland
Mark Evan Rigney, 58, of Cumberland passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Harlan on January 8, 1967 to the late Winfred and Rachel Creekmore Rigney. Mark served his country as a communication specialist in the U.S. Army from 1986-1991. Mark was a wonderful human and he proudly served his country and was a true patriot. After his time in the Army, he worked as a truck driver for the Baylor Company for 30 years. In his last years of driving he met a woman named Lynda Leigh Bishop, they team drove together and he loved her very much and her dog, Sugar. He loved the lake, he didn't really fish much, he just loved watching the kids play in the water and being out on the lake. He enjoyed camping, four wheeling, cookouts, bonfires, and even just sitting on a porch taking in the outdoors. He loved to cook and be with his family. He always had a fur-baby in his life, he loved animals more than most people. His latest dog was named Pennie and he'd say "you can have anything but you can't have my last penny." Mark was a faithful man, believing in the Lord, and would do anything for anyone that needed help. We are all going to miss him very much.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Rigney; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Rigney.
Mark was a loving father to Thomas Evan Boggs and Colleen Boggs Pendleton; Mark and his ex-wife, Teresa Boggs, were together for years and shared lots of good memories and he helped raise them. He had one special son-in-law, Derik Dewayne Pendleton, which he always said if he had to choose between the two, he'd pick Derik any day! He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Bryson Boggs, Isabella and Natalie Pendleton; they were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed watching them play ball and just sitting and listening to them talk about their day, he was very proud of them! He's going to be missed by many, he touched people's lives all across America. Mark was the youngest of six children and they loved him dearly, they say he tried to act like the oldest even though he wasn't. He has four living brothers; Terry Rigney and wife, Joyce; Reggie Rigney and wife, Pam; Carlos Rigney and wife, Lorna; and Lawrence Rigney. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends will mourn his passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tri City Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, 2025, beginning at 1 pm. Military honors will be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
