Mrs. Martha Lee Owens, 101, of Closplint departed this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born March 9, 1923 in Harlan County, she had lived here all of her life. Martha was a homemaker and member of the Louellen Pentecostal Church. She loved fishing, playing games, sewing and embroidery.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Clinton Owens; her parents, Jessie Mae Strickland Searcy and Charlie Jones; a son, David Owens; and several siblings, Adaline, Leola, Elsie, JD, Charles, Henry and William.

Survivors include three children, Barbara Philpot, Cincinnati, OH; Sol Owens, Shields; and Bertha Colvin, Kildav; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, an expected great-great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6 until 8 pm at the Louellen Pentecostal Church.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 1 pm at the Louellen Pentecostal Church with the Reverend Ronnie Boggs and the Reverend Carl Canterbury officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
