Martha Ann Hensley Stewart, 73, of Verda departed this life on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.  Martha was born on January 21, 1952 in Harlan County and had lived here all of her life.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Turner Baptist Church in Verda.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Hamp Hensley and Martha Gregory Hensley; and a sister, Deloris Thomas.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Odell Stewart, Verda; two sisters, Elva Simpson, Wallins, and Barbara Daniels, Harlan; two brothers, Clyde Bud Hensley and wife, Elsie, Wallins, and Charles Jack Hensley, Wallins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Her visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the Chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 1 pm.  The Reverend Jerry Kirby will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery at Verda with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
