Obituary

Mary Virginia Lewis Creech, 80, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away at her home on October 22, 2026. Mary was born on March 4, 1946 in Benham, Kentucky to the late Walter and Virginia Nunnery Lewis. She spent most of her life in Cumberland, where her days were rooted in her family, her Baptist faith, and the community she called home. Mary made caring for her family her life’s work. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful cook who shared her food generously. She shared 61 years of marriage with her husband, Jimmy Creech.

Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Cumberland, where she sang in the choir and participated in ladies’ missions for many years. She had a servant’s heart and was always volunteering for something, willing to give her time wherever she could help. Her church was an important part of her life. Mary had a generous heart and plenty of spirit. She knew her own mind and wasn’t shy about sharing it. She liked things done her way, especially when it came to making sure the people she loved were well fed and taken care of.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Sue Childers and Libby Deal; her brothers, Jerry Lewis, Doug Lewis, and Homer Lewis; her brother-in-law, Teddy Deal; and her sisters-in-law, Linda Lewis and Wanda Lewis.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Creech McNulty and her husband, Rex, of Panama City, Florida; and Tonya Aslinger and her husband, Jerry, of Cumberland; her five grandchildren, Zane Blair, Braeden McNulty, Blaine McNulty, Morgan Blair, and Cody Aslinger; and her three great-grandchildren, Atlas Blair, Knox Blair, and Gracie Aslinger. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, David Childers, and her sister-in-law, Joann Lewis.

To her family, Mary’s absence will be felt in the everyday moments—a meal she would have made, something they want to tell her, and the familiar voice they long to hear on the other end of the phone. She was their mom and grandmother, someone whose place in their lives was entirely her own. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2 pm until the funeral hour. Her funeral service will be at 4 pm with the Reverend Dennis Williams officiating.

Tri City Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mary Creech.
