Maymie Helen Vaughn, 72, of Evarts, departed this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born April 3, 1953 in Harlan County, she had lived here most of her life. Maymie worked at the Evarts Drug Store and the Evarts 5 and Dime Store for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading her bible and going to church until her health kept her from going. She believed in the Pentecostal faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna Harris Vaughn and Homer Vaughn; a stillborn child; and two brothers, James "Buddy" Wright and wife, Phyllis; and Charles Wright.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Arlena Lynch and husband, Robert; two grandchildren, LeAnna and Maycee Lynch, all of Ages; nieces and nephews, Tammy Wotier and husband, Harold, Closplint; Donna Middleton and husband, Marty, Kenvir; James Wright and wife, Claudette, Cranks; and Buddy Wright and wife, Chrissy, Harlan; great-nieces and great-nephews, Joshua Blevins, Eastbrook; Tasha Cornett, Kenvir; Amber Lefevers, Closplint; Shanoa Middleton, Cotes; Christofer Wright, Cranks; Dalton Wright, Ages; Joseph Wright; Jacob Wright; Sierra Bass; Savannah Blevins; and Little Buddy Wright; and a host of great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, other family and friends, including special friends, Druesilla and Tom Lunsford, Claudine Johnson, Dorothy Napier and Charlene Middleton.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 12 noon in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with Reverend Perry Long and Reverend James Middleton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with her family serving as pallbearers.
