Michael Allen Carter, 37, of Jonesville, VA, departed this life at his home surrounded by his family on the morning of Friday, March 21, 2025.  He was born on December 2, 1987 in Big Stone Gap, VA to Mark and Teresa Kirk Carter of Keokee, VA.  Michael married Jerrica Eldridge-Carter on June 27, 2014.  He loved cattle and farming and never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Junior and Reba Carter who had lived in Jonesville; and Walter and Dorthy Kirk who had lived in St. Charles.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is also survived by his brother, Matthew (Grace) Carter and their children, Donovan and Olivia; his mother-in-law, Lora (Kerry) Galloway; his father-in-law, Lee Eldridge; his brother-in-law, Gavin Galloway and his cousin, Dalton Carter, who were both like brothers to him; and a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to thank Caris Hospice, the Harlan ARH Oncology Dept., and Kala Stapleton, FNP-C for their care and support during his illness.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 3 pm at the Lee Memorial Gardens in Pennington Gap.  His family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Michael lived by one of his favorite Bible verses, II Timothy 4:7.  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
