Michael Shane Middleton, 56, of Kenvir departed this life on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born March 11, 1969 in Harlan, he had lived here all of his life. Shane worked in the HVAC industry for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. He believed in the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Middleton, and a brother, Quenton Middleton.

Survivors include his mother, Etta Mae Hatfield Middleton, Kenvir; four sisters, Patty Bowling and husband, Roger, Harlan; Lillian Middleton, Wallins; Mary Burkhart and husband, Mitch, Dayhoit; and Jennifer Scissom and husband, Heath, Kenvir; two brothers, George "Eddie" Middleton and wife, Joy, Lawrenceburg, KY; and Randy Middleton and wife, Karen, Harlan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Evarts Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 12 noon until 2 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm in the chapel with the Reverend Perry Long officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Shane's family and friends serving as pallbearers.
