Mildred G. Asbury, 93, of Evarts entered her heavenly home on Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.  Born May 11, 1932 in Whitley County, she had lived here most of her life.  Mildred was a homemaker who loved to cook for everyone.  She was also a very talented seamstress and was well known especially for her formal gowns that she made. She also enjoyed creating flower arrangements.  Mildred believed in the Church of God faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Asbury; her parents, the Reverend Hayes Harp and Lela Smith Harp; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Glen Cooley; a brother, Ray Harp; and two sisters, Thelma Campbell and Edna Longmire.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Wallace and husband, Charles, Evarts; a niece who was like a daughter to her, Betty Wyke and husband, Frank, Sidney, OH; two sisters, Nadine Hoskins, Versailles, KY; Tina Middleton and husband, Mike, London, KY; and a brother, Hayes Harp, Jr. and wife, Annette, Fort Myers, FL.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Glenna Sharp (Jeff), Fort Wayne, IN; Kenny Cooley, Fort Wayne, IN; William Shackleford, Corbin; Matthew Shackleford (Vickie), Berea; Rebecca Powell (Dustin), Caryville, TN; Beth Bolin (Garett), Evarts; nine great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Owen Sharp; Brad and Charlie Cooley; Emma and Eric Powell; Garett Bolin, Jr.; Billy Shackleford, Jr.; Joseph Shackleford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Her visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Kenvir Church of God Mountain Assembly beginning at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 2pm.  The Reverend Franklin Stewart will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Kenvir #31 Cemetery with her family serving as pallbearers.
