Mitchell Lee Napier, 60, of Verda departed this life on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Hazard ARH following a long illness.  He was born on February 13, 1963 in Harlan County to the late Stanley Napier and the late Elizabeth Bennett Napier.  Mitchell was a former coal miner, an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting ginseng.

He is survived by his son, John Napier and wife, April, Verda; his former wife, Theresa Lynn Bledsoe Napier, Berea; five step-children, Rick Bledsoe, Harlan; Leslie Bledsoe and spouse, Ashley, Tremont; Christopher Bledsoe and wife Samantha, Putney; Summer Brown, Berea; and Susan Witt and husband, Nicholas, Berea; his sister, Sherry Napier, Morganton, NC; and his brother, Christopher Napier and wife, Stacy, Verda.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jaicelynn Elizabeth Napier, Aubrey Michelle Napier, Kaitlyn Hardy, Bethaney Bledsoe, Chase Bledsoe, Dylan Bledsoe, Issac Bradford, Wade Bradford, Seth Coogle, Caleb Coogle, Penelope Coogle, Jacob Witt and Natalie Witt; and a host of other family and friends, including his best friend, Bobby Howard of Verda.

His visitation will be held Saturday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Kirby officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
