Pamela Gay "Pam" Burkhart, 55, of Evarts departed this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born June 2, 1968 in Harlan County, she had lived here all of her life. Pam was a homemaker and enjoyed painting, working puzzles, planting flowers and decorating for the holidays. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She believed in the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Bradley Burkhart, Sr., and Ruby Barnes Burkhart; a brother, William Bradley Burkhart, Jr.; and the parents of her fiancé, David and Frances "Fran" Kelly Owens.

Survivors include her fiancé of 23 years, Jerry Owens, Evarts; three children, Farrahan Short and husband, Michael Witt, Evarts; Lakeisha Burkhart and fiancé, Marquis Oneal, Lexington; and Corey Burkhart, Richmond; three brothers, Neal Burkhart, Evarts; Troy Burkhart and wife, Vanett, Aurora, IN; and Lloyd Ray Burkhart and wife, Kim, Evarts; four sisters, Faye Daughters, Florence, KY; Judy Freeman and husband, Tim, Dizney; Lillie Mae Napier and husband, Alex, Evarts; and Paula Payne and husband, John, Evarts; four grandchildren, Koven Oneal, Greyson Oneal, Easton Short, and Michael Vincent Witt, Jr. and an expected grandson. A host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive.

Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 pm at the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church, anytime Thursday and until the funeral hour on Friday.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 25, 2023, at 1 pm at the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Lloyd Ray Burkhart and the Reverend Mike Blair officiating.

Her burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with her funeral expenses.
