Patsy Hughes Bennett, sixty years of age, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. One of eleven children, Patsy was born on August 24, 1962, in Harlan, KY, to Shirl and Martha Ledford Hughes. Growing up in a large family taught Patsy many life skills that would serve her well throughout her life.

Patsy was a kind, free-spirited woman who loved life. She always had a garden, which supplied an abundance of wonderful food and she welcomed everyone to her table. She was a great cook! Patsy had a green thumb and could grow most anything but she especially loved any type of flower. She frequently enjoyed a good cup of coffee while sitting outside in the sunshine. Most of all, Patsy loved her family and she was crazy about her grandbabies. Her absence will leave a huge void in the lives of all who loved her, specifically her fur-babies, Rebel and Bella, who were more like her children.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Shirl and Martha Hughes; two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hughes, Edna Caudill; four brothers: Donnie Hughes, Adrian Hughes, Jerry Hughes and Glenn Hughes.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Bruce Bennett; five children: Tonya Kelly and husband, Roger, of Totz, KY, Shonda Lamb and husband, Keith, of Evarts, KY, Rachel Brock of Verda, KY, Donald Brock and wife, Amanda, of Kenvir, KY, Silas Bennett and wife, Bethany, of Evarts; four sisters: Retha (Rufus) Brock, Frances Bennett, Karen (Ronnie) Kelly, Cathy Hughes; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation for Patsy will be Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 5:00-8:00PM in the chapel of Evarts Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 27, 2023 at 1:00 with the Reverend Jerry Kinney officiating. Patsy will be laid to rest in the Evarts Memorial Gardens, Evarts, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
