Peggy Bianchi
Byrd
May 21, 1947 — Jul 13, 2024
Wallins
Peggy Sue Bianchi Byrd, age 77, of Wallins, Kentucky, passed from this life in the evening hours of Saturday, July 13, 2024.
The oldest of two daughters, Peggy was born to Lena Bianchi in Harlan, KY, on May 21, 1947. She and her younger sister, Susan, grew up in Baxter. Peggy graduated from Harlan High School in 1966 and eight months later, on January 22, 1967, Peggy married the love of her life, Robert Franklin Byrd. Peggy and Robert left a legacy of fifty-seven wonderful years, a marriage of faithful love and service to one another. They were soul mates, best friends, and a true example of living out the marriage vows. They were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer and April, who were their parents pride and joy.
After spending twelve years as a stay-at-home mother, Peggy began working once her youngest started school. She was a hard worker and held several different positions throughout her lifetime. She worked at Skidmore Florist, Bissell's Office Supply, and Scott's Five and Dime, just to name a few. During the years her husband was the Loyall City Judge, Peggy was the Judge Pro-Tem. She was involved with the KY State Police fundraising activities to benefit Trooper Island and also volunteered at the Wallins Fellowship Center.
Peggy was always a hands-on, fully involved mother. She could always be found chaperoning school trips that her girls were involved in. Her fun-loving, outgoing nature made her a favorite with the school children. She was outspoken and always the life of the party. Peggy loved her children fiercely and when grandchildren came into the picture and she gained the new title of 'Nana', they received that same wonderful, loud, crazy love. Peggy would do anything she could for her family and was always very protective of the people she loved. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful cook, something she learned from her mother. She loved to travel and was always ready to go anytime the car started up. Her big personality and beautiful smile will be missed terribly.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her mother, Lena Bianchi. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jennifer Byrd Burgan and husband, Eugene, and their children, Miranda and Dalton; daughter, April Byrd Points and husband, Spencer, and sons, Kenneth Porter and Andrew Porter; sister, Susan Phillips and husband, Bo; a host of extended relatives; and many dear friends.
Visitation for Peggy will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2:00. Reverend Jim Johnson will be officiating.
Peggy will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Harlan County Memorial Gardens, Tremont. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers
