Phyllis Ann
Satterfield Obradovich
May 11, 1938 — Feb 20, 2026
Lynch
Phyllis Ann Satterfield Obradovich, 87, of Lynch, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Whitesburg following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Buby, and two sisters, Wilma Davis and Belva Harris.
Born May 11, 1938, in Blackwater, VA to the late Oscar and Marie Johnson Satterfield, Phyllis' childhood reflected the resilience of her generation. During World War II, her family moved to Vanport near Portland, where her parents worked in the Kaiser shipyards and her mother proudly served as a "Rosie the Riveter." The family later returned to Tennessee, where her father worked in Oak Ridge building the Y-12 before settling in Leatherwood and eventually Cumberland, Kentucky. A proud Redskin, she graduated from Cumberland High School in 1956.
On November 4, 1956, she married the love of her life, Carl "Buby" Obradovich, beginning a devoted partnership that defined her life.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Todd (Lisa Cornett) and Chris (Tina Blanton); her beloved granddaughters, Ashley Larsen (Nathan), Megan Hueffed (David), Kaitlin Obradovich, and Elena Obradovich; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Madelin Rose Larsen and Anderson Robert Hueffed. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A dedicated homemaker and later an insurance professional in Cumberland and Lexington, Phyllis served as past president of the Lynch Garden Club, was a lifelong member of Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church and its Women's Missionary Union and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel. She expressed her love through cooking—sharing treasured recipes learned from Lynch's immigrant families, especially her holiday Hungarian nut roll, peanut butter roll, divinity, and bourbon balls. She delighted in dancing to '50s music, often jitterbugging with her sons, and faithfully helped organize her high school class reunions through the years.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church in Phyllis' memory.
Tri City Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Phyllis Obradovich.
