Obituary

Robert Wayne Craig, age 60, of Pathfork, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, September 27, 2024, at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer. The baby of twelve children, Rob was born on October 6, 1963, to the late James Presley Craig Sr. and Irene Dora Moore Craig, which happened to be his parent's anniversary.

Rob was a wonderful, loving man who cared for others above himself and made it his goal to be an encourager to everyone he met. He struggled many years with an addiction that separated him from his family and his God. After a long, difficult journey with that addiction, God restored Rob, freed him from his addiction, and saved him.  Shortly afterwards, Rob was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Cancer can be a vicious disease but Rob fought as long and hard as he could. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him but there is great comfort knowing he is celebrating in the presence of his Lord and Savior, no longer suffering.

In addition to his parents, Rob is preceded in death by three brothers: James Presley Craig, Jr., Clifford Houston Craig, and Carl Ray Craig; and three sisters:  Patsy Lou Marcum Thompson, Ora Ondilee Wilson, and Teresa Lynn Craig.

Left to cherish his memory is his only child, son Robert Scott Craig, of Harlan; Robert Scott's mother, Vera Irene Craig, of Harlan; two brothers: Reverend Joseph Clayton (Billie) Craig and Arthur Vincent Craig, all of Pathfork; three sisters: Charlene (George) Kelly of Tazwell,TN, Sinda Jean (Kevin) Thompson of Crossville, TN, and Mildred Rebecca Hensley of Wallins; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members; as well as many dear friends.

Visitation for Rob will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Blackstar Pentecostal Church with funeral services beginning at 2:00.  Reverend Earl Hensley and Reverend Wesley Wilder will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Saylor Cemetery in Pathfork. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful and loving staff of the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the residents, and Bluegrass Hospice care for the love and care they extended to Rob.

Harlan Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Robert Wayne Craig.
