Rodell 'Bug' Rhodes, Jr., age 65, of Harlan, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday,  November 28, 2024, at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief battle with cancer. Born on May 4, 1959, to Rodell Rhodes, Sr. and Australia Sweatt Rhodes, Rodell was one of nine children. He was a life-long resident of Harlan and attended Harlan High School. Those who knew 'Bug' well knew he could be the life of any party. He was kind and had a big heart but could definitely be rambunctious at times. Rodell was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan and loved listening to music. He was a former maintenance worker for the City of Harlan.

In addition to his parents, Rodell, Sr. and Australia, 'Bug' is preceded in death by seven siblings: two sisters, Lori Bolton and Vickie Wagner; and five brothers, Ray, Dan, Gary, Albert, and Joseph Rhodes; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Latonya Moore, of Arkansas; a sister, Janet Rhodes, of Harlan; a special brother and caretaker, Michael Rhodes (Michelle), of Harlan; several grandchildren; three special nephews: Tim Rhodes, Anthony Rhodes, Paul McKee, all of Lexington, KY; several other special nieces and nephews; many dear cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Rodell will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00.  Elder Terry Turner will be officiating.

Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY. Pallbearers are Tim Rhodes, Anthony Rhodes, Paul McKee, Shawn Sweatt, Reggie Young and Todd Anderson.
