Roger Colinger, Sr., age 67, of Harlan went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the UK Hospital in Lexington.  Roger was born on October 17, 1955 in Harlan and had lived here all of his life.  He was a retired coal miner after 37 years of service having last worked for Black Mountain Resources.  Roger was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church at Dayhoit.  He loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marion "Buster" Colinger; his mother, Gracie Simpson Jones; and his step-father, John Noe.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Martha Marlowe Colinger, Harlan; three children, Roger Colinger, Jr. and wife, Betsy, Baxter; Kelly Saylor and husband, Greg, Baxter; and Jessica Bray and husband, James, Catrons Valley; four sisters, Anna Branson and husband, Mike, Loyall; Loretta Colinger, Woodbine; Francine Moore, Dayhoit; and Bessie Neal and husband, Jessie, Dayhoit; and two brothers, Gene Colinger and wife, Barbara, Harlan; and Jimmy Colinger, Livingston.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Amelia Colinger, Nathan Bray, Stephen Colinger, Riley Bray, Noah Bray, Addison Saylor, Latasha Saylor and Kalep Saylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

His visitation will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the Chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 3 pm.  The Reverend Roger Colinger, Jr. and the Reverend Terry Baker will officiate.
