Roger David Zunda, 66, of Evarts departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. Born December 10, 1957 in Lejunior, he had lived here all of his life. Roger was a retired coal miner with over 20 years of experience with the Manalapan Mining Company. He believed in the Church of God faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom Zunda and Naomi Nantz Zunda; a daughter, Donna Joann Preston; four brothers, Tex, Walter, Timothy and John Zunda; and his grandparents, Walter and Georgia Nantz.

Survivors include his former wife, Treva Kelly Zunda, Evarts; four grandchildren, Carissa Caudill and husband, Justin; Jaylin Preston; Ashley Preston; and Mason Preston, all of Evarts; one sister, Dollie Nantz Bohr and husband, Tom, Calvin; two brothers, William Zunda and wife, Laura, Evarts; and Kyle Zunda and wife, Diane, Harlan. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5 until 7 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 7 pm in the Chapel. The Reverend Philip Wynn will officiate.

Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11 am. Anyone wishing to be part of the funeral procession should meet at the funeral home no later than 10:15 Saturday morning.

Josh Zunda, Ben Zunda, Jarred Ball, Justin Caudill, Austin Plank, other family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
