Ruby "Dora Mae" Jackson Burkhart, 78, of Jones Creek departed this life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at her home. Born February 8, 1947 in Harlan, she had lived here all of her life. Dora Mae was a homemaker, believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of the River Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family, friends and her dog, Oreo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Burkhart; her parents, Reverend Homer Jackson and Ruby Smith Jackson; a sister, Lois Jones; and a brother, L.B. Jackson.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina Burkhart, Jones Creek; a son, Homer Burkhart and wife Jimmie, Jones Creek; a step-daughter, Rose Phillips Sheffield; four grandchildren, Brianna Turner, Sierra Maggard, Nathan Cloud and Cory Burkhart; five great-grandchildren, Millie and Rosie Cloud, Olivia Turner, Bentley and Brooklyn Maggard; two step-grandchildren, Drew and Bryan Townsend; two step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Leslie Townsend; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday after 11 am, and anytime Sunday, at the Turner Missionary Baptist Church at Verda until the funeral hour Monday.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 3, 2025, at 2 pm at the Turner Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Ralph Whitaker and the Reverend Jerry Kirby officiating.

Burial will follow the services in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
