Russell Lee Kelly, 59, of London, KY, formerly of Closplint, departed this life on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the UK Hospital in Lexington following an illness.  Russell was born on December 22, 1965 in Harlan County to Doyle Kelly and Geneva Slusher Kelly of Closplint.  He worked as a coal miner for 20 years, was the former owner/operator of K&K Trucking, and was currently employed as a diesel mechanic manager for Schneider/Midwest Trucking.  He enjoyed fishing and was an avid UK basketball fan, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Russell is survived by three children, Lindsey Kiefer and husband, David, California; Ashley Brennan and husband, Rick, Illinois; and  Steele Kelly of Illinois; two step-sons, Zack Bryant, Woodbine; and Coty Bryant, London; a brother, Christopher Neil Kelly, Dizney; and four sisters, Teresa Messer, London; Debbie Cloud, Dizney; Shannon Hall, Closplint; and Cheryl Skidmore, Cranks.  Also surviving are four grandchildren that he loved dearly, Claire and Charlotte Brennan; Jack and Henry Kiefer; and a host of other family and friends, including his best friend, Shannon Neal.

His visitation will be held Friday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Arnold Martin officiating.
