Ruth Alice Brewer Miller, 76, of Loyall passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the U.K. Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born April 16, 1947 in Harlan County to the late Howard Brewer and Hazel Grubbs Brewer. Ruth was a fighter, having battled and overcoming cancer and battling C.O.P.D. for many years. She was a retired employee at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital where she found joy in trying to help others. Ruth was always a joy to be around and could light up the darkest room with her smile.

Beside her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ernest Miller; five sisters, Macy Ginn, Vera "Rab" Vaughn, Jeanette Baker, Phyllis Morgan and Wilma Brewer; and two step-children, Bobby Miller and Charlene Helton.

Ruth leaves behind to mourn her passing one daughter, Robin Brewer, Loyall; two step-children, Clayton Miller and wife, Marcia, Harlan; and Charlie Miller and wife, Christy, Bledsoe; one brother, Randy Brewer; and one sister, Sue Underwood, both from North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jana Stanifer and husband, Chris; Kayla Miller and husband, Derrick; three great-grandchildren, Erica, Kaylob and Chloe. Also surviving are four special nieces, Shannon Johnson, Donna Spaulding, Kristi Farmer and Anna Sue Moody. She also leaves a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Gary Grubbs officiating.

Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
