Sam Maggard, 71, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 27, 1951 to the late Leonard and Mae Williams Maggard.  He was a member of the Blair Chapel Church and a veteran of the United States Army having served two years from 1970-1972. He liked hunting for ginseng. Sam never met a stranger and loved playing practical jokes and getting a laugh.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two grandsons, Zigurd Grigalis and Brandon Hall; two great-grandsons, Caleb Niece and Bradley Maggard; and a special nephew, Saylor Clark.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Imogene Clark Maggard of Cumberland; three children, Anna Trent and husband, Tony, of Cumberland; Rhonda Howard of Nicholasville, KY; Sam Maggard, Jr. of Nicholasville, KY; two brothers, Bill Maggard and Jim Maggard, both of Putney; three sisters, Mary Little and husband, Tim, of Richmond, KY; Linda Gail Little of Putney; Charlene Brown of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Samantha, Haley, Amanda, Brittney, Tyler, and Jonathan; eight great-grandchildren; special nephew, Bobby Clark; and a host of nieces,  nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 4 to 6 PM at Tri City Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow with the Reverend Rod Raleigh officiating.
