Sandra Whitaker Fields, 64, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1960, in Winchester, KY to the late David and Shirley Caudill Whitaker. Sandra was a long-time and devoted member of Blair Chapel Church, where her faith was evident in both word and deed. She deeply loved her church community and found great joy in helping others, always putting their needs before her own with grace and humility. Being 'Nana' was one of her greatest joys, her grandkids were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into every hug, every story, and every moment shared with them. For 45 years, Sandra and David shared a bond that was both a marriage and a deep, abiding friendship. Their love was a constant source of strength, laughter, and comfort to one another.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Greg Whitaker.

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, David Fields of Cumberland; two children, Megan Lea Owens and husband, Travis, of Lynch; Jonathan Fields and wife, Alyssa, of Cumberland; a brother, Gary Whitaker and wife, DeeDee, of Morristown, TN; five grandchildren: Jaxson Hurt, Blakeleigh Alexsandra Owens, Elliana Owens, Rhett Fields, and Ramsi Fields; a niece, Stephanie Khoury and husband, Laith; a nephew, Jeff Whitaker and wife, Heather; her fur baby, Luna; and other family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025, beginning at 5 pm and Thursday from 12-2 pm at the Blair Chapel Church. Her funeral service will be Thursday at 2 pm at the church with the Reverend Rod Raleigh, Bill Maggard, and Woodrow Fields officiating. Interment will follow at the Benham Cemetery with Jaxson Hurt, Travis Owens, Mason Beach, Zach Blanton, Jeff Beach, and Tate Burton serving as pallbearers.
