Shelia Cornett
Mcarthur
Mar 4, 1968 — Aug 26, 2022
Barbourville
Shelia Ann Cornett McArthur, age fifty-four, of Barbourville, Kentucky, formerly of Benham, passed away suddenly Friday, August 26, 2022 at her home. Shelia was born on March 4, 1968 in Illinois to Henry and Pansy Boggs Cornett. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Linefork, where Shelia grew up. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1986 and then immediately married Jim McArthur. After the birth of Lindsay, their first child, Shelia began taking nursing courses at Southeast Community College. Baby Logan was born in 1994 and a few months later, Shelia graduated from SECC with a degree in nursing. She immediately began working as a nurse and over the years, she worked at hospitals in Harlan, Pineville, Corbin, and London, as well as working at the Hospice Center. At the time of her death, Shelia was working at the Barbourville ARH.
Shelia was the life of any party. She enjoyed doing crafts of any kinds, fishing and kayaking. She was a great cook, an avid reader, and when she was younger, she sang in church. She was a loving, caring, beautiful soul, which made her a wonderful nurse for so many years. While she had many hobbies, the thing Shelia loved most was her grandchildren, twins Hannah and Easton McArthur. She loved being 'Granny' most of all and her heart was full when she was with them. Her loving smile and infectious personality will be missed by many.
Shelia is preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty years, Jim McArthur, and her parents, Henry and Pansy Cornett.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: daughter, Lindsay McArthur Hunter (Matthew) of Piney Flats, TN; son, Logan McArthur and wife, Katie, of Bledsoe, KY; two grandchildren: Hannah and Easton McArthur; three brothers: Mike (Mia) Cornett, Jerry (Pam) Cornett, and Kenneth Cornett; her best friend of over thirty-six years, Pat Funk; other extended relatives and many dear friends.
Services for Shelia will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Tri City Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 2:00. Burial will be at the Benham Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Tri City Funeral Home is honored to serve the McArthur family.
