Mrs. Sherri Lyn Roark Simmons, age fifty-five, of Harlan, KY passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 9, 2023, at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by family members. Sherri was born on December 6, 1967, in Bell County to Lois Cupp Pruitt and King David Roark. She married Jesse Simmons in 1987 and began a family. Raising her three children, Jessica, Ashley, and Isiah, was the sole focus of Sherri's life. She poured all of her love, energy, and devotion into her family.

Sherri had a vivacious personality. She was the life of any party she attended and was the center of all family gatherings. She never knew a stranger, was selfless and always went above and beyond to help others. Sherri loved bird watching, gardening, and thunderstorms. She was kind to everyone…human and animal and she instilled those values in her children and grandson. She loved to laugh and joked about everything, including death. Even at the end of her life, Sherri maintained her wonderful sense of humor. She believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents, Lois and King; a sister, Judy Roark; and an infant sibling.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Jessica Belcher and husband, Casey; Ashley Luttrell and husband, Justin; Isiah Simmons and wife, Chelsey, all of Harlan; her only grandchild, Kash Luttrell, who was the apple of her eye and her reason to fight cancer so fiercely; her husband, Jesse W. Simmons, of Harlan; three sisters: Phyllis "Kay" Daniels and husband, William, of Harlan; Sonya Phipps and husband, Jason, of Middlesboro; Linda Corsair of Ohio; one brother, David Leamon Roark of Ohio; a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation for Sherri will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 11:00am-1:00pm in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home with her Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00. Reverend Jeff Burke will be officiating. Burial will be at Aunt Emily's Cemetery in Miracle, KY, with Jesse Isiah Simmons, Casey Belcher, Justin Luttrell, Jason Daniels, Jonathan Daniels, and Travis Daniels serving as pallbearers.
