Shirley Vernon Curnutt, 86, of Evarts, departed this life on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born October 4, 1938 in Corbin, but had lived here most of his life. Shirley worked in maintenance and believed in the Holiness faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucy Ellen Doan Curnutt and Washington Curnutt; three sisters, Violet Hicks, Katherine Alsip Tolliver and Rosa B. Woodard; two brothers, the Reverend Paris Curnutt and William Edgar Curnutt; and two brothers-in-law, the Reverend Alford Hall and Danny Kirk.

Survivors include three sisters, Alpha Hall, Evarts; Stella Ann Kirk, LaVergne, TN; and Wanda Napier and husband, the Reverend Curt Napier, Avon Park, FL; one brother, the Reverend Hyden Curnutt and wife, Joyce, Ashland, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

His visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Evarts Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with his funeral service to follow at 2 pm. The Reverend Hyden Curnutt, the Reverend Curt Napier, and the Reverend Perry Long will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
