Sillis
Thompson
Jul 12, 1965 — Oct 13, 2026
Putney (formerly of Evarts)
Sillis Thompson, 61, of Putney, formerly of Evarts, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Pikeville Medical Center after battling a long illness, with his family by his side.
Sillis, affectionately known as “Booger” to many, was born July 12, 1965, to Gladys and Henry Thompson of Evarts. Sillis was a Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart and leaned heavily on him for strength, especially in the past few years.
He lived most of his life in the community of Dartmont, where many of his friends and family still reside. He moved to Putney to be closer to family a few short years ago.
Sillis worked for both Waste Management and Harlan County Recycling for many years. He made so many friends while working throughout the community. Sillis never met a stranger; he had a contagious smile. He always had a cheerful manner about him and was loved by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Harris Thompson and Henry Thompson, Jr.; brothers, Levi Thompson and Walter Thompson; and a sister, Geneva ”Jenny” Thompson; and his beloved dog Charlie, whom he loved so dearly.
He leaves behind his brothers, Henry Ed Thompson and wife, Darla, who lovingly cared for him during his illness; Pete Thompson and wife, Dezzie; many nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Willa Rachel Belt and husband, James; and Candie Pace and husband, Mark; one very special great-niece, Lily Belt, who was like a grandchild to him. Special cousins, Lisa Middleton, who he loved like a sister. One family very dear to his heart, Jerry, Debbie and Bethany Kinney. His physician and good friend, Dr. Eric Roberts. His beloved pet Kitty and many other friends and family to cherish his memory.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
