William Joseph "Bill" Bloomer, 71, of Wallins, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Hazard App. Reg. Hospital with his family by his side. Born March 1, 1952 in Harlan County, he was a retired strip miner, truck driver and was also the caretaker for the Park Howard Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. Bloomer and Polly Griffin Bloomer; and one sister, Audrey Bloomer.

Bill is survived by two sisters, Pat Bloomer Saylor and husband, Freddie, Wallins; and Alpha Bloomer Kilburn and husband, Blaine, Danville. Also surviving is one niece, Melissa Rice and husband, Shawn, Danville; and one very special great-niece, Taylin Rice, Danville; and his two fur babies, Cheeta and Ma; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Stepp and Shawn Rice officiating.

Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
