Joann Coots Laws, 72, of Grays Knob went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 19, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on February 3, 1953 in Big Laurel to the late Hobert Coots and Mary Shepherd Coots. She was a homemaker and a longtime employee at K.F.C. and believed in the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Laws.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo Shoemaker and husband, Russell, Baxter; and Jamie Laws Singleton and husband, Michael, Stanford; five grandchildren, Byron and Ryder White, Lauren Shoemaker, Jenna Shoemaker and Jacob Shoemaker.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Cawood with funeral services starting at 8:00 p.m. with Russell Shoemaker officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
