Virgie Lou Scott, age 85, of Cumberland, KY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was born in Letcher County on August 24, 1940 to the late Hiram and Dora Rutherford Raleigh. She was a homemaker and believed in the Primitive Baptist Faith. She attended the Blair Chapel Church. Virgie loved spending her time being around her family, especially the little ones.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dennis Scott; eight siblings: Ethel Maggard, Charles Raleigh, Geraldine Owens, Everett Raleigh, Alvin Raleigh, Elmer Raleigh, Marie Lynch, and Gladys Owens; and two great-grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Dennis Delane Scott (Tekesha Phillips) of Floyd County; a daughter, Teresa Klein (Rick Gaines) of Benham; two sisters, Lillie Dixon of Ohio; Jean Sturgill of Indiana; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with one due in March; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 21, 2025, in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home from 5pm to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Tri City Funeral Home at 12 pm with the Reverend Rod Raleigh officiating. Interment will follow at the D.L. Creech Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
